Quartz stone slabs are made of roughly 90-93% quartz mixed with 7% resin and pigments. This means that they're non-porous and won't absorb liquids that can stain. Ranking a 7 in hardness on the Moh's scale, quartz stone countertops also resists scratching and cracking to a greater degree than many natural countertops.

Quartz is engineered, rather than mined like natural stone. And because the surfaces are engineered, they have unsurpassed durability, design flexibility, ease of maintenance and consistency.

How Do I Keep Quartz Countertops Looking Great?

Beyond the actual appearance, the beauty of quartz is that required care for your new countertop is relatively easy, but there are still a few crucial do' s and don' ts to mind.

(1)Do wipe up spills promptly with paper towels or a damp cloth. While quartz is non-porous, liquids like wine and coffee can stain the surface if allowed to dry.

(2)Don' t use abrasive cleaners or scrubbers on your countertop. Scouring powders and steel-pads can scratch and dull the surface.

(3)Do use an all-purpose spray kitchen cleaner or mild commercial household cleaner for daily cleaning needs (view example on Amazon).

(4)Don' t use, or spill, acidic or high-alkaline products on your quartz countertop. 

(5)Do use a non-scratch nylon pad or sponge to safely scrub away sticky food residue.

(6)Don’t use a metal knife to remove hardened food items, such as stuck-on candy-making spills. Instead, use a plastic putty knife to gently scrape them away.
