 Comprehensive Introduction to Quartz Stone Panels: Raw Materials, Production, Cost, Overseas Logistics and Post-Installation Maintenance

Recently, the fluctuation in global shipping has continuously affected the international trade of building materials. As a domestic manufacturer of quartz stone panels, many overseas buyers have inquired about the differences in quartz stone panels, their cost composition, transportation risks, and key points of post-installation maintenance. This article provides a comprehensive overview of the entire production chain from raw materials to final product, helping overseas customers understand the products and manage procurement risks.

1. Raw Materials and Cost Composition

Quartz stone panels are mainly composed of **90%-93% high-purity quartz sand / quartz crystals**, mixed with 7%-10% unsaturated polyester resin, inorganic pigments, and a small amount of additives through compaction.
The raw materials are the biggest variable in cost: high-purity low-iron quartz aggregates determine the whiteness and stability of the panels; resin prices are affected by fluctuations in the petrochemical market, which is the core factor for recent cost increases; special patterns, fish-scale white, marble patterns series require higher-quality color pigments, which are more expensive than plain color panels. In addition, energy consumption, labor, quality inspection, packaging, etc., are all included in the factory price. Many low-priced panels reduce the purity of quartz and increase the resin ratio, which makes them prone to yellowing and staining problems in the future. Overseas engineering buyers need to carefully identify the formula.

 2. Manufacturing Production Process

Standardized quartz stone production consists of six processes: raw material classification and ratio → fully automatic mixing and blending → vacuum high-pressure vibration compaction → constant temperature curing → uniform thickness grinding and polishing → quality inspection and sorting.
The vacuum high-pressure stage is the key. Under high-pressure conditions, the internal air is expelled to make the panels dense and have extremely low water absorption; after curing, multiple grinding heads continuously polish to achieve various surface effects such as high gloss, matte, and leather finish. Each batch of products will be inspected for color difference, hardness, and stain resistance to ensure stable color throughout the shipment. Intelligent production lines have also significantly reduced the defect rate, supporting the stable delivery of large-scale export orders.

 3. Overseas Transportation and Sales (Following Current Trends in Shipping)

Currently, international shipping routes are unstable, container freight rates fluctuate, and maritime accidents occur frequently. Quartz stone is a heavy and fragile product, so packaging and container loading are the top priorities for overseas shipping. Factories use wooden frames for reinforcement and soft membranes for protection, and the panels are packaged vertically to avoid磕碰 (knock and bump) damage during transportation; when calculating container capacity, weight limits must be considered, and the number of packages should be reasonably planned to reduce the risk of damage claims.
In the sales end, Chinese quartz stone factories have advantages in a wide range of styles and customizable thickness (12mm/20mm/30mm), widely supplying kitchen countertops, bathroom cabinets, and wall decorations. They are popular in Brazil, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, etc. It is recommended that overseas buyers prioritize direct purchase from the source factory to avoid middleman price differences; for long-term orders, raw material prices can be locked in advance to hedge against shipping and raw material price increases.

4. Terminal Use and Post-Installation Maintenance

Quartz stone has a Mohs hardness of 7, is scratch-resistant and wear-resistant, and is dense without pores. Compared with natural marble, its maintenance is simple. It is the preferred countertop material for overseas home decoration and commercial projects.

✅ Daily Maintenance: Wiping with warm water and neutral cleaning agent is sufficient; no regular sealing protection is required;
❌ Prohibited: Strong acid and alkali cleaning agents, direct prolonged contact with the countertop by high-temperature cookware, and using knife blades to scratch hard;
⚠️ Note: Although it is resistant to stains, colored liquids (red wine, dyes) should be cleaned promptly; long-term soaking still has the potential for penetration. With proper use, high-quality quartz stone can maintain its color for a long time and reduce after-sales issues.
