China Quartz Sand Industry Still In Short Supply, The Import Volume Continues To Increase
Jan 04, 2022
Quartz sand is a kind of quartz particles made by crushing quartz stone. It is a hard, wear-resistant, and chemically stable silicate mineral. The color is milky white or colorless and translucent. It is the main raw material of quartz stone slabs. China is rich in quartz ore resources. At this stage, more than 14 billion tons of high-grade quartz ore have been proven. From 2015 to 2021, the output of China' s quartz sand industry has shown a growth trend, and in 2021 it has increased to 87.65 million tons.
At the same time, through the comparison of industry output and demand, it is found that China' s quartz sand industry is in short supply, so a large amount of quartz sand products are imported every year to make up for the demand gap. According to data, in 2021, the import and export volume of China' s quartz sand industry will be 3.345 million tons and 67,000 tons respectively. As of January-April 2021, the import and export volume of quartz sand will be 1.221 million tons and the export volume will be 21,000 tons.
Among them, Malaysia, Australia and Indonesia are the main sources of imports for China' s quartz sand industry. The imports in 2020 will be 1,390,900 tons, 1,260,700 tons, and 652,300 tons respectively, accounting for 87.6% of the total imports. At the same time, driven by downstream market demand, the market scale of China' s quartz sand industry continues to expand from 2015 to 2021. According to data, in 2021, China' s quartz sand market will reach 19.70 billion yuan. Among them, the market size of ordinary quartz sand is 5.848 billion yuan; the market size of refined quartz sand is 10.197 billion yuan; the market size of high-purity quartz sand is 3.655 billion yuan.
